Joe Avezzano, known to us as simply “Coach Joe,” will be doing his last show this Monday night at KHYI for a while; he has recently taken a new coaching position with the Milano Seamen in the Italian Football League. We are all very excited for this wonderful opportunity he has been given–we wish him well and hope to see him back soon! Help us wish him well on his last radio show with us tonight 7pm-9pm.

KHYI is pleased to announce that our recent Canvases For Kids auction drive raised $11,000 for the Childrens Advocacy Center of Plano!

A big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who supported this Holiday venture in an effort to brighten the Holidays for kids in our community! This includes all artists who donated their original artwork, all bidders and purchasers of the paintings, and anyone else who helped promote it–we could not have done this without you!

It’s your last chance to help change the lives of the children at the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center by being a part of KHYI’s Canvases for Kids Charity Auction.

Every year, Dallas-based country & Americana radio station KHYI 95.3 The Range calls upon its finest music artists in rotation to compose artwork to benefit children in need! This year the theme of the paintings being submitted is “Your Favorite Love Song.” These masterpieces are truly unique and rare forms of art from some of the most talented musical legends of our time.

Proceeds from all Canvases For Kids auctions will be donated to the Collin County Childrens Advocacy Center of Plano, Texas (cacplano.org), who are dedicated to taking action to identify, protect, and improve the lives of abused and neglected children.

Before performing, Michael Martin Murphy will be presented with the  2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Big Gus is hosting his show “Lone Star Underground Live” at 4pm @ Love & War in Texas (Plano) on the outdoor stage -  Performing: Grass Notes is opening for The Bluegrass Heritage Foundation Band feat. Steve Rhian on guitar.
